I Quit My Online Business in 2023 Because of Burnout. Now I'm Starting Again.
There was a time when I thought I had finally found the right online business for me.
Back then, I was actively building my Nu Skin business. I was posting content on social media, selling products, and helping people who wanted to start their own social selling journey.
At first, everything felt exciting.
Every sale felt rewarding.
Every new team member felt like progress.
I genuinely enjoyed what I was doing.
But somewhere along the way, I slowly started feeling exhausted.
Not because the business wasn't working.
Not because I hated it.
I was simply burned out.
The Real Reason I Stopped My Online Business
A lot of people assume that when someone quits an online business, it's because they failed.
For me, that wasn't the case.
The truth is, I became responsible for almost everything.
I was the one creating content.
I was the one answering inquiries.
I was processing orders.
I was supporting my team.
And whenever I took a break, everything seemed to slow down.
Looking back, I realized I had built a business that depended too much on me.
There was no clear system.
There was no balance.
And eventually, it became exhausting.
To make things more challenging, the income wasn't always predictable.
And the product prices kept increasing.
Some months were great.
Some months were surprisingly quiet.
Some loyal customers couldn't afford it anymore.
That uncertainty, combined with doing everything myself, eventually led to burnout.
Going Back to Work
In 2023, I decided to step away from the business.
I accepted a work-from-home night shift job and focused on having a stable source of income.
Honestly, it felt like a huge relief.
For the first time in a while, I didn't have to think about sales every day.
I didn't have to wonder if I would hit my target for the month.
I simply showed up, did my work, and received a paycheck.
The stability gave me peace of mind.
But even while working, there was always a small voice in the back of my head.
A thought that kept coming back.
"What if I try again?"
Why I'm Restarting My Side Hustle
The answer is simple.
My husband and I have goals we want to achieve.
And while having a full-time job provides stability, we both realized that having an extra source of income could help us reach those goals faster.
Not because we're chasing luxury.
Not because we're trying to get rich overnight.
We simply want more flexibility.
More options.
More freedom in the future.
That's why I've decided to start again.
This Time, I'm Doing Things Differently
One thing burnout taught me is that not everything has to be complicated.
Before, I focused heavily on building a team and managing people.
Now, my focus is much simpler.
I want to focus on:
- Consistent product sales
- Simple and repeatable systems
- Sustainable growth
- Long-term habits instead of short bursts of motivation
I'm no longer trying to do everything at once.
I'm no longer chasing perfection.
I'm choosing consistency instead.
A Simpler Approach to Social Selling
If there's one lesson I've learned from my first online business journey, it's this:
You don't have to build a huge business overnight.
You don't have to be everywhere.
You don't have to do everything.
Sometimes the best approach is the simplest one.
Show up.
Learn.
Improve.
Repeat.
And that's exactly what I'm doing now.
Final Thoughts
This blog isn't a success story.
At least, not yet.
It's a restart story.
A reminder that taking a break doesn't mean giving up.
Sometimes, stepping away gives you the clarity you need to come back stronger.
So here I am.
Starting again.
One step at a time.
And this time, I'm building something that fits the life I actually want to live.
